What stays on your device
- Photographs and videos
- Files you shoot with the app, receive from your camera or download from its memory card are stored on your iPhone: inside the app, and — only if you switch on “Copy to Photos” in Settings — in your photo library as well. They are never uploaded anywhere.
- Camera connection details
- The Wi-Fi name and password of a paired camera are kept in your device's keychain so the app can reconnect without asking you to scan the code again.
- Settings
- Your chosen theme, the file-transfer login the camera uses to reach the app, and when your free week began.
What the app connects to
Only your camera, over your local network or the camera's own Wi-Fi. No other service is contacted, and the app contains no analytics, advertising or tracking of any kind.
Purchases
The one-time purchase is handled entirely by Apple. Camera Red never sees your payment details; it is only told whether the purchase exists.
Permissions
- Local network — to reach the camera by its address.
- Camera — to scan the pairing code shown on your camera's screen.
- Photos (add only) — only when you switch on “Copy to Photos”, and only to add files. The app cannot read your photo library.
Children
The app is not directed at children and collects nothing from anyone.
